Community Engagement

Lancaster County is known for its generosity and passionate involved community groups.  School, corporate, religious, civic, ethnicity, living community, professional association, clubs, service organizations, or just among your friends and family you can organize and host an awareness event to gain a better insight into the challenges Lancaster county faces for its homeless population.  If you are already with us, arrange a fun fundraising event to benefit those here that are facing or experiencing homelessness.   

Community Awareness & Fundraising Ideas

Holding an event can be a is a fun and fulfilling way to help the coalition continue the important work of housing vulnerable people in Lancaster.

    Host an at Home Event: Mindfully use your home to raise awareness and funds for people who do not have a home. Invite over your friends and family for a Movie night, 4 Course Dinner, Spa day, or game night. Ask each guest for a donation of about how much they would have paid to go out for the evening.

    Hold a Sale: Hold a garage sale or bake sale with the proceeds advertised to go to helping those who are homeless.

    Dress Down or Dress Up: At work or school have people make a $5.00 donation to dress down or hold a silly hat day. The options are limitless.

    A-Thon: 24 hours non-stop gaming, binge watching, dancing or tournament.

    All ages are a part of our Wall of Fame: On September 7th Lucas organized and held his first art show to benefit the homeless in Lancaster County. At the time Lucas we only 8 years old. We are the proud owners of “Hope” beautifully painted by Faith. (pictured below) The show was a resounding success and every piece of art submitted was sold!!! Proceeds from the show benefit the Lancaster County Homelessness Coalition and Church World Services. Thank you so much Lucas for your kind heart and being such a light in our community. We love you!

    The thoughtful and caring residents of the Willow Valley community organized a series of awareness discussions to better educate the residents of the community and create an awareness of those who are homeless, the growing trend of an aging population and increasing homelessness, the efforts that Lanc Co MyHome and the partners are collectively undertaking and how the community and individuals can help.
